ALLAGASH HEADWATER LAKES TRIP

(Chamberlain Bridge to Churchill Dam)

Over the course of 4 nights and 5 days, we'll paddle over 40 miles from Chamberlain Bridge to Churchill Dam, canoeing through some of the most beautiful lake scenery in the eastern United States.

On this trip we'll paddle across three of the Allagash Headwater Lakes, starting at Chamberlain Thoroughfare Bridge, paddling through Eagle Lake, and finishing at Churchill Dam on the northern end of Churchill Lake.  There is only one short portage on the entire trip which is around the Lock Dam on Chamberlain Lake.

One of the highlights of the trip is an excursion to the abandoned tramway & trains on Eagle Lake, and time permitting, a day hike to the Pump Handle Ledges on Eagle Lake for some awesome views of the Allagash Waterway.

Our campsites each night will be lakeside, and each day there will be plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, fishing, or moose watching.  Bring plenty of film as we are likely to see bald eagles, osprey, moose and deer.

A trip through history, the Allagash Lakes are a treasure worth seeing and experiencing.
